Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Statistician role at Lumanity is a key position within the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team, focusing on generating evidence to demonstrate the value of life sciences products. This role entails leading statistical input and providing expert guidance to projects, as well as developing statistical analysis plans. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and evolution of the team, working closely with cross-functional teams.

As a Senior Statistician, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing data to inform commercial decisions that position life sciences products for success. Your expertise will be essential in performing and reporting statistical analyses, both as standalone research and for input into health economic models. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including survival analyses, indirect treatment comparisons, and analyses of clinical trial data.

The HEOR Research team at Lumanity is dedicated to improving patient health by accelerating and optimizing access to medical advances. As a senior member of this team, you will be expected to demonstrate professional excellence in client and external stakeholder interactions.

What You Will Do

  • Lead statistical input and provide expert guidance to projects, ensuring high-quality analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Develop statistical analysis plans, including the design of studies and the analysis of data from various sources.
  • Perform and report statistical analyses, both as standalone research and for input into health economic models.
  • Conduct survival analyses, including parametric survival analyses and adjustments for treatment switch/cross-over within clinical trials.
  • Carry out indirect treatment comparisons, including network meta-analyses and population-adjusted indirect comparisons.
  • Analyze clinical trial data, including quality of life analyses.
  • Analyze observational data and real-world evidence to inform health economics and outcomes research.
  • Provide statistical input into reimbursement submissions to health technology agencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the HEOR Consulting team, to ensure integrated solutions for clients.
  • Demonstrate professional excellence in client and external stakeholder interactions, including presentations and reports.
  • Mentor and train junior statisticians and health economists to enhance team capabilities.
  • Stay updated with new methodologies and techniques in the evolving field of HTA and reimbursement, applying these to improve the quality of research.

What We Are Looking For

  • A postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD) in a statistical or mathematical topic.
  • Multiple years of professional experience in planning, performing, and reporting statistical analyses within a HEOR consultancy, HTA agency, biostatistics, or contract research organization (CRO) environment.
  • Experience with Bayesian methods and techniques, such as MCMC or HMC, implemented using software such as JAGS, OpenBUGS, or Stan.
  • Capability to adapt existing models and develop new ones as needed.
  • Experience in health research, preferably with the use of hierarchical models for statistical modeling and data synthesis.
  • Strong understanding of statistical principles and their application in health economics and outcomes research.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Adjust and Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with programming languages such as R or Python for data analysis and modeling.
  • Knowledge of health technology assessment processes and reimbursement decision-making.
  • Familiarity with real-world evidence studies and their application in health economics.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading junior team members.
