About the Role
The Senior Storage Engineer plays a vital role in Eqvilent's technical infrastructure, overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale storage systems. This position requires a deep understanding of storage technologies, performance optimization, and system behavior under various loads. As a key member of the engineering team, the Senior Storage Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data management and storage solutions.Day-to-day responsibilities involve monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements to ensure the stability and reliability of Eqvilent's storage infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating large-scale storage systems in production environments, with a solid grasp of Linux, storage performance, and system behavior under load.
The Senior Storage Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with the development team to design and implement storage solutions that meet the company's growing data needs.
What You Will Do
- Design, implement, and manage large-scale storage systems to meet Eqvilent's growing data needs
- Optimize storage system performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to ensure reliability and stability
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate storage management tasks
- Collaborate with the development team to design and implement storage solutions that meet business requirements
- Troubleshoot complex storage issues, driving them to resolution and implementing preventative measures
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for storage systems
- Develop and maintain documentation of storage systems and processes
- Stay up-to-date with the latest storage technologies and trends, applying this knowledge to improve Eqvilent's storage infrastructure
- Work closely with the security team to ensure the security and integrity of Eqvilent's data
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience operating large-scale storage systems in production environments
- Strong understanding of Linux, storage performance, and system behavior under load
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive them to resolution
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl
- Strong understanding of storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS, and iSCSI
- Experience with cloud-based storage solutions such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra
- Experience with cloud-based storage management tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform
- Certification in storage technologies such as NetApp or EMC
