About the Role

The Senior Tax Accountant role at Twilio is a critical position within the International Tax team, responsible for managing the company's international tax compliance, utilizing AI-driven tools to streamline workflows, and focusing on high-value strategic analysis. As a key player in the global specialist International Tax Team, you will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure Twilio's international entities remain compliant while the company undergoes significant growth and transformation. The role is designed for a technically strong tax professional who is also tech-forward, able to harness the power of AI and data automation to drive efficiency and scalability.

The tax landscape is evolving, with complexities such as Pillar Two and local incentives requiring proactive monitoring and strategic planning. In this context, the Senior Tax Accountant will not only ensure compliance but also contribute to the development and maintenance of strong internal controls and governance over international income tax compliance and reporting.

What You Will Do

  • Gather, validate, and compile quantitative and qualitative tax information from multiple internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Own the end-to-end preparation and filing of international corporate income tax returns and manage the tax components of local statutory financial statements and audits.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual global tax provisions for international entities, focusing on improving the accuracy of US GAAP to local GAAP reconciliations.
  • Utilize AI-driven research tools to monitor and summarize complex legislative changes and draft technical memos.
  • Identify opportunities to use low-code tools or AI assistants to automate data collection from ERPs, reducing manual workpaper preparation.
  • Act as a bridge between Tax and Finance, ensuring that tax data is clean, accessible, and ready for reporting.
  • Assist in monitoring country-level tax law updates, performing tax research, interpreting changes, and documenting the Company's tax positions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong internal controls and governance over international income tax compliance and reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the international tax function, championing technology and automation to drive efficiency and scalability.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in international tax, preferably in a similar role within a multinational company.
  • Strong technical skills in tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax research.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with tax software and systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with AI-driven tools and data automation is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
  • Professional certification in taxation or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience with low-code tools such as Power Query.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP accounting principles.
