About the Role
The Senior Tax Analyst role at Sol Petroleum is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions. As a key member of the tax function, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing local income tax returns, calculating tax provisions, and conducting research on complex tax issues. This role will also involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.The tax landscape is becoming increasingly complex, with governments around the world implementing new laws and regulations to combat tax evasion and avoidance. The Senior Tax Analyst will report to the Tax Manager and will work closely with the finance team to ensure that tax strategies are aligned with business objectives. The role will also involve providing training and support to junior team members and contributing to the development of tax policies and procedures.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and review local income tax returns for Corporation and indirect taxes in multiple jurisdictions
- Calculate and document quarterly and annual tax provisions, including analysis of tax accounts and reserves
- Conduct research on complex tax issues, interpret tax laws and regulations, and apply them to specific transactions and situations
- Assist with tax audits by gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including managing tax registrations and filings in multiple jurisdictions
- Analyze the tax impact of business decisions, structures, and transactions, and identify opportunities for tax savings
- Develop and maintain relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and other stakeholders
- Provide training and support to junior team members
- Contribute to the development of tax policies and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of tax strategies with business objectives
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company
What We Are Looking For
- Professional accounting qualification (CGA, ACCA, CPA, CA)
- Bachelor's Degree or above in a relevant field
- Minimum 4 years' experience in Tax or accounting roles
- Previous experience with Latin American/Caribbean tax matters
- Experience with US tax matters is a plus
- Significant Excel experience
- Experience with tax software (Onesource, Vertex...) and other tools such as Alteryx, Power BI
- Proficiency with major accounting systems (SAP, GP...)
- Strong command of English and Spanish (written and oral)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and parties, ensuring adherence to filing timelines
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work fluidly and collaboratively within remote teams
- Self-driven, creative, proactive, and team-oriented
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Big 4 companies
- Compliance background
- Working knowledge of French or Dutch
- Experience with other tax software and tools
- Certification in a related field (e.g. tax law, accounting)
