About the Role

The (Senior) Teamlead Software Development role at Bikeleasing-Service is a unique opportunity to lead and manage a team of skilled engineers, while contributing to the company's architectural modernization efforts. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for setting standards for excellent people management, working closely with the Head of Engineering, and contributing to the development of the engineering organization. The role is positioned alongside existing team leads, allowing for a collaborative and peer-based approach to leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Directly manage a team of 8-9 engineers across multiple product teams
  • Design and roll out a consistent people-management operating model for all Team Leads
  • Own performance cycles and calibration processes with the Head of Engineering
  • Contribute to hiring, interviews, and onboarding improvements
  • Act as a trusted partner for Product, Business, and HR stakeholders
  • Co-build the engineering ladder, job structure, and relevant KPIs
  • Stay close to the codebase with a 20-30% hands-on contribution and support architectural modernization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and strategies
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning

What We Are Looking For

  • Several years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead
  • Strong software-engineering background and technical credibility
  • Confidence working in matrix organizations with separated product and people leadership
  • Proven ability to handle feedback, performance management, and career development
  • Strategic thinking on organizational and cultural topics
  • High emotional intelligence and clear communication skills
  • Fluent German and professional English
  • Experience with modern tech stacks, including Kotlin, TypeScript, PHP, Python, and relevant frameworks
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS and Terraform

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery tools, such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection regulations
  • Experience with mentoring and coaching junior engineers
  • Certification in engineering management or a related field
