About the Role
The Senior Tech Generalist role at Capchase is a unique opportunity to drive innovation in the fintech industry. As a key member of the team, you will have real ownership across the stack, from building user-facing systems and internal tools to developing reliable backend services, designing scalable infrastructure, and working with data to guide meaningful decisions. As a Senior Tech Generalist, you will be part of a diverse team of 15+ nationalities with a shared passion for helping innovative companies thrive. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain end-to-end systems, architect for growth, and own core financial systems.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end systems across frontend and backend, supporting both customer-facing workflows and internal backoffice operations
- Evolve the architecture to improve scalability, reliability, and security, making pragmatic tradeoffs that balance speed with long-term maintainability
- Own the foundational systems that power the platform, including payment orchestration, ledger infrastructure, underwriting engines, reconciliation pipelines, and real-time deal tracking
- Work with third-party financial APIs to automate data ingestion, risk evaluation, and cash movement workflows
- Lead by example through thoughtful system design, high-quality code reviews, and mentorship, helping the team build clean, well-tested, and maintainable systems
- Design systems capable of handling increasing transaction volume and operational complexity, with strong observability and a focus on reliability in a financial domain
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize projects, and to develop and implement solutions
- Participate in the development of the company's technical strategy and contribute to the growth of the engineering team
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-scale software
- Proficiency in Typescript and Node.js, with the ability to choose the right tool for the problem
- Strong systems thinking skills, with the ability to design and maintain complex systems
- Experience with financial systems, payment orchestration, and ledger infrastructure
- Strong guarantees around correctness, traceability, and auditability
- Ability to work in a fast-moving team and to prioritize tasks effectively
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization
- Familiarity with machine learning and data science concepts
