About the Role

As a Senior Technical Account Manager at Affirm, you will play a critical role in ensuring the technical success of the company's largest merchant partners. You will advise developers, product teams, and key business partners throughout the customer lifecycle, implementing Affirm's products into existing architectures and driving long-term growth. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and project management abilities. The Senior Technical Account Manager role is part of the Engineering Team and works closely with Affirm's Product, Operations, Customer Success, and Merchant Help teams. You will lead the technical relationships for a named set of merchants, fostering trust and long-term partnerships. Your expertise will help merchants avoid pitfalls and take advantage of Affirm's offerings, driving business objectives with technical strategies and product optimizations. What You Will Do

  • Lead the technical relationships for a named set of merchants within a vertical or category
  • Manage and provide technical guidance for new merchant integrations, reducing risk and driving new feature adoption
  • Support clients throughout their lifetime as Affirm partners, resolving critical technical issues and quarterbacking multi-departmental efforts
  • Provide early feedback to engineering and product teams while iterating on new products
  • Identify areas to improve operational efficiencies and onboard merchants more quickly
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for merchant integrations and support
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive technical innovation and growth
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the payments ecosystem
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Account Manager, Solutions Engineer, or other customer-facing technical role
  • Comfortable reading code in at least two programming languages
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a deep command of written and verbal communication
  • Confidence and fluency when discussing technical concepts with developers
  • Validated ability to lead important client relationships and drive technical growth
  • Strong project management skills, capable of influencing internal and external partners
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical major (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with the payments ecosystem and web/mobile application architecture
  • Comfortable writing code in at least one language

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance regulations in the payments industry
  • Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools
