The Senior Technical Claims Specialist role at Liberty Mutual is a critical position that requires a high level of expertise in handling complex and highly complex commercial casualty claims. What You Will Do
- Determine coverage and investigate complex and highly complex commercial casualty claims
- Set and adjust reserves, evaluate claims, and negotiate settlements
- Review lawsuit documentation and supporting documents, claims files, and investigations
- Establish actions to be taken to resolve lawsuits, including determining loss coverage, amounts owed, and discovery plans
- Manage the practices and billing activities of outside counsel
- Train and mentor staff as appropriate, and manage relationships with various business partners
- Stay up-to-date with existing and proposed legislation, court decisions, and trends related to specialty coverage issues
- Analyze the impact of these changes on claims policies and procedures, and advise Claims Management accordingly
- Participate in special projects and contribute to the development of best practices
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriting, reinsurance, and claims teams
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of claims adjusting experience
- Advanced knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving, and expense management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and achieve results
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Intermediate to advanced level of skill in customer focus, problem-solving, communications, gaining support, teamwork, and adaptability
- Construction liability or commercial general liability claims experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a remote or virtual team environment
- Knowledge of insurance industry trends and developments
- Certification in claims adjusting, such as the Associate in Claims (AIC) or the Senior Claims Law Associate (SCLA)
- Experience with claims management software and systems
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines
