About the Role
The Senior Telecom Engineer role at Mekdam Technical Services is a critical position that requires a high level of technical expertise and project management skills. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's telecom systems, ensuring they are running efficiently and effectively. What You Will Do
- Configure tools to automate the provisioning, testing, and deployment of new and changed telecom system infrastructure
- Provide technical expertise to less experienced colleagues in all aspects of current and correct operational practice
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of telecom system installation and maintenance work
- Implement agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines, utilizing the appropriate tools and test equipment
- Ensure that procedures are followed, including those relating to safety and security
- Assist in producing outline telecom system designs and specifications covering objectives, scope, features, facilities, management, reliability, resilience, security, constraints, hardware, network, and software environments
- Take responsibility for all stages of the life cycle for telecom software/hardware and transmission media development of relatively simple communication systems
- Assist with more complex systems
- Define, document, and safely execute small-scale projects, or sub-projects, actively participating in all phases of the project
- Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues which might impact on the success of the project
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline
- 6 years of IT and telecom experience, preferably within the Oil and Gas industry
- Competent knowledge in core skill applications, tools, and techniques
- Conversant with relevant IT national and international standards
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- Demonstrated experience in IT support environment
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Excel and other productivity software
