About the Role

As a Senior WordPress Developer at Proxify, you will be the technical architect for complex web applications, pushing the boundaries of what WordPress can deliver in an enterprise environment. You will lead the development lifecycle from custom backend logic to high-performance, interactive frontend components, ensuring every line of code is scalable, secure, and maintainable. Your expertise in PHP, React.js, and WordPress will enable you to build bespoke Gutenberg blocks, manage Headless WordPress architectures via WPGraphQL, and optimize high-traffic database schemas.

Your role will involve leading the development of custom, end-to-end WordPress solutions, from backend logic to interactive frontend components. You will also build advanced, user-friendly block patterns and custom blocks that empower content editors.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the development of custom, end-to-end WordPress solutions, from backend logic to interactive frontend components
  • Build advanced, user-friendly block patterns and custom blocks that empower content editors
  • Support the transition from legacy monolithic WordPress setups to modern block-based or headless architectures
  • Optimize server-side and client-side performance to ensure lightning-fast load times for high-traffic sites
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, promoting a culture of technical excellence
  • Collaborate with other developers to deliver exceptional results
  • Build bespoke Gutenberg blocks and dynamic editor interfaces using React.js
  • Manage Headless WordPress architectures via WPGraphQL
  • Optimize high-traffic database schemas for improved performance
  • Ensure every line of code is scalable, secure, and maintainable

What We Are Looking For

  • Expert-level knowledge of PHP 8.x and the WordPress core (Hooks, Filters, REST API, and WP-CLI)
  • Deep experience with React.js, specifically for building custom Gutenberg blocks and dynamic editor interfaces
  • Proven ability to build custom themes (FSE/Block-based) and sophisticated plugins from scratch without the bloat of page builders
  • Expert-level understanding of REST API and WPGraphQL for decoupled/headless setups and third-party integrations
  • Solid experience with MySQL optimization, object caching (Redis/Memcached), and achieving perfect Core Web Vitals
  • Proficiency with Webpack/Vite, Composer, and Git-based deployment workflows
  • Commitment to WordPress Coding Standards and building accessible (WCAG compliant) user experiences
  • Located in CET timezone (+/- 3 hours)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with the Roots stack (Sage, Bedrock, Trellis)
  • Familiarity with Next.js or Gatsby for headless frontend implementations
  • Advanced knowledge of WooCommerce at the enterprise level
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (PHPUnit) and E2E testing (Playwright)
