About the Role
The Shift Lead at Banfield Pet Hospital plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary hospital. This role involves performing the duties of a Client Services Coordinator or Vet Assistant while also assisting and supporting the hospital leadership in developing an efficient and productive team. The Shift Lead works closely with the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital, focusing on achieving practice priorities and building the company's culture and brand.Day-to-day, the Shift Lead is responsible for supervising the team, ensuring quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy leading by example, fostering a positive work environment, and delivering high-quality care and service to pets and their owners.

What You Will Do
- Assist and support hospital leadership in developing an efficient and productive team
- Perform duties of a Client Services Coordinator or Vet Assistant as needed
- Supervise the team to ensure quality medical care, exceptional client service, and maximum productivity
- Ensure effective communication with all clients and internal stakeholders and colleagues
- Foster an environment where the team can deliver quality, efficient, and effective veterinary care to pets
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional client service, leading by example
- Assist in scheduling associates to meet client needs and proactively plan time off and CE scheduling
- Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures
- Ensure adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines
- Participate in client education about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, and marketing campaigns
- Effectively resolve client issues and concerns
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of two years of veterinary hospital experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Excellent client service skills and ability to provide high-quality care and service to pets and their owners
- Ability to work weekends and evening shifts
- Comfortable working in an environment with loud noise and strong smells
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Veterinary technician certification or degree preferred
- Experience with veterinary software and technology
Nice to Have
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Certification in veterinary technology or a related field
- Experience with client education and community outreach
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
