About the Role

As a Senior Backend Developer at Pathway Solutions, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot 3 on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will take ownership of new features from concept to deployment, tackling complex challenges in platform scalability and ensuring speed and excellence. Your expertise in API integrations, particularly with Shopify GraphQL, will be crucial in providing real value to customers in the accounting and e-commerce domains.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot 3 on GCP
  • Take full ownership of the entire development lifecycle for new platform features
  • Solve complex problems in business logic, API integrations, and platform scalability
  • Ensure reliability by proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing production environments
  • Collaborate with product and support teams to clarify requirements and design clean, well-architected solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and share knowledge with the team
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence
  • Build solutions that provide real value to customers in the accounting and e-commerce domains
  • Tackle challenging API integrations for Shopify and other third-party services
  • Dive deep into business logic and design clean, well-architected solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with a strong command of Java and the Spring Boot framework
  • Experience in AI coding tools and a willingness to further drive AI adoption in the development process
  • A structured mindset with the ability to break down complex problems and design clean, well-architected solutions
  • API expertise, particularly with Shopify GraphQL APIs and complex third-party integrations
  • Cloud proficiency, preferably with GCP, including Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and PubSub
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with Git, continuous deployment pipelines, and agile practices

Nice to Have

  • Experience releasing embedded Shopify apps (Polaris)
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced SaaS environment
  • Domain knowledge in the accounting or e-commerce industries
  • Experience with relational databases (like MySQL) and/or NoSQL solutions
