About the Role

Pathway Solutions GmbH is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Specialist to take ownership of new features from concept to deployment, focusing on building robust and scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot 3 on cloud platforms. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions that provide real value to customers in the accounting and e-commerce domains.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of Java and the Spring Boot framework, with experience in building and deploying applications on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of production environments, as well as participating in code reviews and contributing to a culture of engineering excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot 3 on cloud platforms
  • Take full ownership of the entire development lifecycle for new platform features, from technical design and requirement clarification to testing and deployment
  • Solve complex problems in platform scalability and ensure speed and excellence
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production environments to ensure reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with a strong command of Java and the Spring Boot framework
  • Experience in building and deploying applications on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Deep experience designing and consuming Shopify GraphQL APIs, including complex third-party integrations
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Git, continuous deployment pipelines, and agile practices like monthly scope planning and regular code reviews
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a team-oriented environment
  • A structured mindset, with the ability to break down complex problems and design clean, well-architected solutions
  • Experience with AI coding tools and a willingness to further drive AI adoption in the development process

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced SaaS environment
  • Domain knowledge in the accounting or e-commerce industries
