About the Role

The Site Safety and Health Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of employees, contractors, and the environment at GE Vernova's hydro power plants. As a key member of the site team, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining site safety and health programs, conducting regular inspections, and providing coaching and training to site personnel. The Site Safety and Health Officer will report to the GE Site Manager/U.S. HSE leader and work closely with the project team, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure that all site activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the primary point of contact for site safety and health matters, providing support and guidance to site personnel and contractors
  • Conduct regular site safety and health inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site safety and health programs, including training programs and emergency response plans
  • Provide coaching and training to site personnel on safety and health procedures and protocols
  • Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations and standards
  • Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies as required
  • Develop and maintain records and reports related to site safety and health performance
  • Identify and share best practices across the region to continuously improve site safety and health performance
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure that safety and health considerations are integrated into all aspects of project planning and execution

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a site safety and health role, preferably in the hydro power or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of safety and health regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA requirements
  • Experience with site safety and health program development and implementation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with safety and health management systems, including audits and inspections

Nice to Have

  • Certification in safety and health, such as CSP or CIH
  • Experience with environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives
  • Knowledge of hydro power plant operations and maintenance
  • Experience with contractor management and oversight
  • Familiarity with GE Vernova's safety and health policies and procedures
