About the Role
The SMB Account Executive - Public Sector role at UKG is a dynamic and challenging position that requires a unique blend of sales, industry knowledge, and relationship-building skills. As a key member of the Public Sector Sales vertical, you will be responsible for maximizing sales revenue and exceeding annual profitability goals for UKG's Public Sector SMB Sales team. This will involve developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the public sector market, identifying new sales opportunities, and presenting UKG's HRMS solutions to key decision-makers.The Public Sector vertical is a collaborative and talented team that works closely to align customer and prospect goals with UKG's innovative products. As an SMB Account Executive, you will be focused on selling into named public sector city and county accounts, with a hunter focus on net new logos seeking to transform their HR, Benefits, Payroll, Time, and Scheduling processes using UKG HCM SaaS deployments.
What You Will Do
- Consistently exceed sales quotas and contribute to the growth of UKG's Public Sector SMB Sales team
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of UKG's HRMS solutions, technology, and capabilities to solve customer challenges and help them achieve stated business outcomes
- Present HCM products and services to final decision-makers and end-users within an assigned territory
- Identify sales opportunities and develop sales and marketing proposals for customers on HCM, Payroll solutions, and services aligned with the prospective customer's needs
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the HCM/SaaS industry, competitors, and analysts
- Develop and execute a sales strategy to achieve sales targets and expand UKG's presence in the public sector market
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in the public sector
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the HRMS and public sector spaces
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and customer success, to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction
- Participate in sales forecasting, pipeline management, and territory planning to ensure accurate sales projections and resource allocation
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven success selling HCM/Payroll solutions, with some experience selling to local governments
- Organized and detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and tactically
- Experience with a diversity of prospecting strategies and sales technologies, including CRM and sales automation tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high level of integrity, honesty, and commitment to self and others
- BA/BS or equivalent, with a strong academic record and a passion for sales and customer success
- Familiarity with the public sector business climate for local government cities and counties in Southern NY, PA, MD, NJ, DE
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Nice to Have
- State and Local Sales Experience, with a deep understanding of the public sector market and its unique challenges
- Experience with UKG's HRMS solutions, or similar products, with a strong knowledge of the technical and functional capabilities
- Certification in sales, marketing, or a related field, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Fluency in a second language, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders
