About the Role
The SMB Solutions Architect position at Gitlab is a critical role that involves working closely with small and mid-sized customers in North America to understand their technical and business needs and demonstrate how Gitlab's artificial intelligence-powered DevSecOps platform can support their goals. This role is essential for customer acquisition, expansion, and long-term success, requiring a professional who can act as a trusted advisor during technical evaluations and solution design.Day-to-day, the SMB Solutions Architect will guide technical discovery, demos, workshops, and validation activities, helping improve technical win rates and accelerate evaluation cycles. This role reports to a regional Solutions Architect Manager and involves close collaboration with Account Executives and cross-functional teams to connect customer needs with Gitlab's platform strategy.
Given the fast-moving nature of the AI and DevSecOps market, the ability to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies is vital. The ideal candidate will be passionate about innovative software development practices and have a proven track record of advising customers on modern software development, continuous integration, continuous deployment, security, cloud, and DevSecOps practices.
What You Will Do
- Guide technical discovery, demos, workshops, and validation activities to show how Gitlab supports customer requirements across planning, development, security, deployment, and monitoring.
- Coordinate the technical evaluation process, including proofs of concept, proofs of value, solution design, and technical responses for tenders or audits.
- Collaborate with Small and Mid-Market Account Executives and regional sales teams in North America to shape account strategies for new business and expansion opportunities.
- Advise customers on modern software development practices and connect those practices to business outcomes.
- Build tailored demos, reference architectures, talk tracks, and presentation materials that support active Small and Mid-Market evaluations.
- Support Account Executives with technical discovery guidance, objection handling, and evaluation planning for common Small and Mid-Market scenarios.
- Participate in the development of sales strategies and tactics to achieve sales goals and expand Gitlab's presence in the SMB market.
- Conduct regular business reviews with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Gitlab's products and services, as well as the competitive landscape.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role, preferably in the DevSecOps or software development industry.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
- Experience with artificial intelligence-powered platforms and their application in software development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and customer success.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in DevOps, Cloud Computing, or a related field is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Gitlab's DevSecOps platform or similar solutions.
- Knowledge of containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools, such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
