Job Description

About the Role

The Social and Content Lead at Newhouse is a dynamic position that combines social media strategy, content creation, and influencer partnership expertise. This role is crucial in helping Newhouse maintain its position at the forefront of brand innovation, where creativity and strategy come together to craft compelling brand narratives. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Social Media and report directly to them, overseeing social and content programs across a portfolio of accounts.

Day-to-day, the Social and Content Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing social content calendars that align with client objectives, audience behavior, and platform trends. This involves translating brand strategies into engaging, native-feeling posts and campaign moments. The role also requires spearheading ad hoc content shoots, editing raw footage into final social deliverables, and managing community engagement across various platforms.

As a key member of the team, the Social and Content Lead will serve as a strategic partner to the influencer team, lending their expertise in social and cultural trends to talent identification, list-building, and outreach support. This role demands a unique blend of creativity, technical skills, and the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver impactful results.

What You Will Do

  • Develop social content calendars rooted in client objectives, audience behavior, and platform reality.
  • Translate brand strategies into engaging, native-feeling posts and sharper campaign moments.
  • Spearhead ad hoc content shoots filmed on location at client offices, activations, events, and sets.
  • Edit raw footage into final social deliverables for platforms like TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and Stories.
  • Manage community engagement, including replies, comments, and escalations.
  • Keep a pulse on platform trends, audio, and meme cycles, and translate them into client-safe creative content.
  • Partner with the influencer team to identify and vet talent for active creator campaigns.
  • Build creator lists that fit the brief on audience, aesthetic, and format.
  • Support outreach when active campaigns need extra capacity.
  • Surface creator movements and cultural shifts in weekly team syncs.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3 to 5 years of experience across social media management, content production, or in-house creator roles.
  • A portfolio that shows both calendar work and self-shot, self-edited content for brands.
  • Proficiency in Premiere or CapCut, with comfort in DaVinci or Final Cut.
  • Current knowledge of what's winning on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Comfort on a shoot: lighting, audio, and basic camera work without a full crew.
  • Sharp copywriting skills, with the ability to write a hook that works in three seconds.
  • Steady on client calls, with the ability to read a room and pivot.
  • A real read on creators and culture.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with influencer teams and creator networks.
  • Knowledge of in-house tools for identifying and vetting talent.
  • Familiarity with cultural and social trends, and the ability to incorporate them into content strategies.
  • Certification in social media marketing or a related field.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and innovative company.
  • Flexible remote work arrangements.
  • Access to the latest tools and technologies in social media and content creation.
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Recognition and reward for outstanding performance and contributions.

How to Stand Out

  • Ensure your portfolio highlights your ability to create engaging social media content and manage campaigns from conception to delivery.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the latest social media trends and how they can be leveraged to enhance brand narratives.
  • Practice your copywriting skills, focusing on creating hooks that capture attention within seconds.
  • Familiarize yourself with the tools and software used in social media management and content creation, such as Premiere and CapCut.
  • Prepare to discuss your experience working with influencer teams and how you stay updated on cultural and social trends.
  • Be ready to provide specific examples of successful social media campaigns you've led and the strategies behind them.
  • Consider reaching out to current or former employees of Newhouse to gain insights into the company culture and what makes a candidate successful in this role.
