About the Role
The Social Media Coordinator plays a vital role in managing The Nature Conservancy's social media presence, supporting the day-to-day execution of the organization's flagship social media channels. This includes daily publishing, light-lift content creation, and facilitating community engagement across multiple platforms. The goal is to cultivate and engage a global community connected by a shared love of nature, advancing the organization's mission through awareness, engagement, and action.As a key member of the marketing team, the Social Media Coordinator will work closely with colleagues to source and prioritize content, inform publishing decisions with performance insights, and maintain the social media content calendar. This role requires a strong understanding of social media best practices, platform-specific strategies, and the ability to adapt to emerging trends and technologies.
The Nature Conservancy's social media presence spans multiple platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube. The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that content is timely, strategic, and optimized for each platform, while also fostering dialogue and building community through thoughtful engagement.
What You Will Do
- Publish daily content across The Nature Conservancy's social media channels, ensuring timely and strategic posting.
- Support light-lift content creation, including drafting copy and sourcing assets for social posts.
- Facilitate community engagement by responding to comments, replies, and direct messages in a timely and brand-consistent manner.
- Maintain and update the social media content calendar, adjusting posting cadence and format based on performance data.
- Source, organize, and edit content from internal stakeholders, marketing partners, and existing assets.
- Identify opportunities to repurpose or resurface high-performing content.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support campaigns, editorial priorities, and timely organizational messaging.
- Stay current on emerging social media trends, formats, tools, and platform updates to inform experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Use social media management tools to support efficient workflow and execution.
- Coordinate projects and complete assigned work within agreed-upon timelines, exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making.
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in social media marketing or a related field.
- Proven track record of creating and implementing successful social media strategies.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube.
- Excellent content creation and editing skills, with the ability to draft compelling copy and source high-quality assets.
- Experience with social media management tools, such as Sprout Social, Canva, and Asana.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Experience with community management, including responding to comments, replies, and direct messages in a timely and brand-consistent manner.
Nice to Have
- Experience with video production and editing, with the ability to create high-quality social media videos.
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS, with the ability to create custom social media assets.
- Experience with paid social media advertising, including creating and managing campaigns.
- Certification in social media marketing or a related field.
