About the Role

The Software Development Engineer in Test role at Sporty Group is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's engineering organization. As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving software quality through automation, testing platforms, quality standards, and engineering enablement. This is not a feature-testing role, but rather a chance to build scalable quality solutions and help teams own quality.

Day-to-day, the role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize quality issues, developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong coding background, experience with testing frameworks, and excellent communication skills.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain test automation frameworks to ensure high-quality software releases
  • Develop reusable testing tools and libraries to reduce testing time and increase efficiency
  • Improve test reliability and reduce flaky tests to ensure consistent results
  • Manage test data and testing infrastructure to support the growth of the company
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to automate the testing process
  • Implement release quality gates to ensure high-quality software releases
  • Improve deployment confidence and testing efficiency to reduce time-to-market
  • Define testing strategies and best practices to drive quality across the organization
  • Support teams with complex testing challenges to ensure they have the necessary resources and expertise
  • Review solutions from a quality and reliability perspective to ensure they meet the company's standards
  • Coach engineers on testing and quality ownership to drive a culture of quality

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of testing experience in a similar role
  • Strong coding skills in Python or another programming language
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar testing frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as AWS, Jenkins, and K8S
  • Understanding of software architecture and distributed systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with testing and quality metrics to drive data-driven decisions
  • Ability to drive adoption of quality practices across teams and departments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based testing platforms and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Scrum framework
  • Certification in testing or quality assurance, such as ISTQB or CSTE
