About the Role

As a Senior Associate in Software Development at Peraton, you will be leading the charge in developing and maintaining complex software applications for the Defense Joint Military Payroll System (DJMS) project. Your expertise in COBOL, CICS, and JCL will be crucial in ensuring the success of this high-stakes project. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and make strategic decisions about technology and implementation.

The role entails a deep understanding of software development life cycles, from planning to execution, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. What You Will Do

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities associated with creating software across multiple functional areas and products
  • Prioritize and allocate projects, products, and resources with the assistance of architects and managers
  • Participate in strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of software products
  • Make employment decisions, such as hiring and rewarding team members
  • Direct software development projects to ensure they are completed on time and according to quality standards
  • Facilitate communication upward and across project teams, including project status, justifications for variances, and technical information
  • Organize projects through the development of a project plan, including communication of product goals, definition of project strategy, and identification of roles and responsibilities
  • Monitor technology trends, including emerging standards for new technology opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with specifications for software requirement changes and experience with design and development of software pay solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • 2 years of experience with a BS/BA, or 0 years with an MS/MA, or 6 years of experience with no degree
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
  • Experience with COBOL in a mainframe environment is required
  • Experience with CICS and JCL software
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles and project management principles
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and their applications in software development
  • Certification in project management or a related field
  • Experience with cybersecurity practices and protocols
