About the Role

The Software Engineer role at Speechify is a unique opportunity to join a team of innovators in the text-to-speech space. What You Will Do

  • Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into the ingestion pipeline
  • Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform
  • Collaborate closely with the Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power the next-generation models
  • Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team’s dataset roadmap to power Speechify’s next-generation consumer and enterprise products
  • Manage and optimize the data pipeline to ensure efficient and reliable data processing
  • Work closely with the engineering team to develop and implement new features and improvements
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve the data infrastructure and acquisition processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data infrastructure and acquisition with other company systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation of the data infrastructure and acquisition processes

What We Are Looking For

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software development
  • Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
  • Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts
  • Professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (GCP)
  • Experience with web crawlers, large-scale data processing workflows
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working in a distributed team environment
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies

Nice to Have

  • Experience with natural language processing or machine learning
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and data governance
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience with cloud-based data storage solutions
  • Certification in cloud computing or data engineering
