About the Role
The Software Engineer, Forward Deployed position at Ramp is a unique opportunity for engineers who are passionate about building scalable solutions and driving business growth. As part of the Forward Deployed Engineering team, you will be working closely with the company's largest and most strategic customers to understand their needs, design tailored solutions, and implement these solutions to drive customer satisfaction and revenue growth. This role is critical in supporting Ramp's mission to build the smart infrastructure for finance teams and will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams including sales, product, and core engineering to deliver impactful results.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include understanding customer pain points, designing and building software solutions, and collaborating with sales teams to close deals and expand the value provided to customers. Given the nature of Ramp's business, there will be a strong focus on delivering high-quality solutions that meet the complex needs of large enterprises. Engineers in this role will also have the opportunity to drive the core product engineering roadmap and make key decisions on prioritization and scoping of projects.
What You Will Do
- Deliver end-to-end solutions for Ramp's largest customers, from understanding their pain points to designing and implementing software solutions.
- Collaborate with sales and go-to-market teams to close deals, activate customers, and expand the value provided by Ramp over time.
- Drive the core product engineering roadmap, making important decisions on project prioritization and scoping.
- Develop and execute strategies to support the growth of Ramp's enterprise platform, addressing technical challenges that arise at scale.
- Work closely with core product engineering teams to develop expertise in key technical areas, using an embedding model to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Design and implement scalable systems, focusing on solutions that can support the largest and most complex organizations in the world.
- Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs.
- Participate in the development of Ramp's tech stack, contributing to the company's mission and values as outlined in the Engineering Blog.
- Solve technical challenges related to scaling, such as extending data models for roles and permissions, integrating with third-party systems, and ingesting HRIS data at scale.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that solutions are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.

- A minimum of 2 years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale.
