Job Description

About the Role

Quid is revolutionizing the finance back-office for e-commerce companies and multi-location operators by building AI agents that automate invoice processing, ERP posting, settlement reconciliation, and approval routing. As a founding team member and Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's product and technology stack. Your primary focus will be on building core product features end-to-end, from idea to production, working closely with the founder and clients to understand their needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs.

The company operates as a managed service for clients across Germany, Netherlands, UK, and the US, handling complex financial processes with ease. As a small, fast-moving team of operators and builders, Quid values engineers who can own projects from start to finish, taking full responsibility for scoping, architecture, implementation, and rollout.

What You Will Do

  • Build and improve backend services, data pipelines, and integrations with ERPs, payment platforms, and external APIs
  • Design and develop frontend interfaces for clients, focusing on user experience and usability
  • Collaborate with the founder to shape the product roadmap and make strategic decisions
  • Work directly with clients to understand their pain points and deliver tailored solutions
  • Develop and refine AI-powered finance back-office solutions, leveraging LLM APIs and prompt engineering
  • Jump onto critical initiatives and unblock them quickly, ensuring timely delivery of projects
  • Take full ownership of projects, including scoping, architecture, implementation, and rollout
  • Build and maintain high-quality, scalable codebases, following best practices and coding standards
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring the team's code quality and adherence to coding standards

What We Are Looking For

  • Senior/Staff level experience in early-stage startup engineering teams or as an ex-founder/CTO
  • Strong product instinct, with the ability to think about the user before implementation
  • Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js on the frontend, and Python and FastAPI on the backend
  • Familiarity with Supabase or similar Postgres-backed infrastructure, including schema design, migration, and query debugging
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or AI agent frameworks
  • Experience shipping and operating production systems, with a focus on scalability and reliability
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues and optimize system performance
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks and automation tools, such as Jest or Pytest
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git

Benefits and Perks

  • Meaningful early-stage equity and compensation package
  • The chance to build something genuinely hard and useful, with a real impact on the finance industry
  • Remote-friendly work environment, with occasional in-person time in Berlin
  • Flexible working hours, with a focus on work-life balance
  • Professional development opportunities, with access to training and conferences
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools, with a focus on innovation and experimentation
  • Collaborative and dynamic team environment, with a strong focus on teamwork and communication

How to Stand Out
