About the Role
Pomelo Care is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join their Growth team, where you will play a key role in developing and implementing AI-powered solutions to improve patient outreach and engagement. As a software engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from building features to improve patient onboarding to developing and iterating on voice agents to streamline patient interactions. You will be part of a remote-first company with offices in New York and San Francisco, and will have the chance to collaborate with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, and clinicians to drive the development of Pomelo Care's virtual care platform.The Growth team is responsible for steering how patients see Pomelo when they first hear about us, and how we stay connected with them over time. This is a critical function, as it has a direct impact on patient engagement and retention. As a software engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to work on novel approaches using LLMs to craft messaging, optimize likelihood of responses, and automate call campaigns with voice AI.

What You Will Do
- Prototype and build features to improve patient outreach and automated re-engagement platform
- Test and iterate on voice agents to streamline patient onboarding
- Improve AI-generated messaging framework and expand into new communication modalities
- Own large product areas end-to-end, with the opportunity to build net-new products from scratch
- Partner with data science to analyze engagement patterns and turn insights into product improvements
- Develop and maintain large-scale systems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve the development process
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, using a data-driven approach to inform decision-making
What We Are Looking For
- Strong foundation in computer science, typically from a bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience building and shipping high-quality software, ideally in growth, engagement, or outreach-oriented products
- Comfort working across the full stack and moving between frontend, backend, and data tooling
- Excitement about applying AI and LLMs to real product problems, not just experimenting with them
- Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and deployment
- Experience with React, Kotlin, Python, Dagster, dbt, SQL, or similar technologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with data pipelines, analytics, or experimentation frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
Nice to Have
- Experience building outreach, messaging, or communication systems at scale
- Experience with voice AI, conversational agents, or similar technologies

- Previous experience working in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment
