About the Role

Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster, and as a Software Engineer Intern, you will be at the forefront of this mission. You will be working on real projects that ship to production, collaborating with experienced engineers, and contributing to the development of performance and error monitoring tools used by companies like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian. The role is based in San Francisco, California, but Sentry embraces a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility and remote work options.

As part of the Product or Infrastructure Engineering teams, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and shipping programming solutions that drive real value to customers. You will receive meaningful feedback, coaching, and mentorship from your manager and teammates, helping you grow both personally and professionally.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and ship a programming solution that drives real value to customers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Work closely with engineers to resolve issues and improve overall system reliability
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Participate in agile development methodologies and ceremonies
  • Collaborate with the QA team to identify and resolve defects
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to open-source projects and the Sentry community

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate degree program in Computer Science (or similar)
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, or a similar dynamic programming language
  • At least 1 previous internship or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with GitHub and collaborating with a team on an engineering project
  • Ability to pick up a new programming language quickly
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and infrastructure
