About the Role
The Software Engineer role at Twilio is a unique opportunity to join a team of innovators who are shaping the future of communications. As a Software Engineer at Twilio, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, high-availability cloud infrastructure for Twilio's microservices. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of cloud-based services.The Developer Interfaces team at Twilio builds key tools that enable developers to use the Twilio Communications and Engagement Platform to integrate communications services directly into their applications via simple cloud APIs with global reach and on-demand huge scale. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be working on building SDKs and operating in multiple coding languages simultaneously, including Java, C#, Python, Go, PHP, Node.js, and Ruby.

What You Will Do
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-availability cloud infrastructure for Twilio's microservices
- Operate and maintain highly available services handling billions of weekly requests
- Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ensuring operational best practices
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure uptime of services through on-call rotations and incident response
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile ceremonies to drive technical excellence
- Continuously improve cloud-based services, focusing on reliability, performance, and scalability
- Research and improve the design and implementation of Twilio's API infrastructure regularly
What We Are Looking For
- 2-4 years of experience in backend engineering, with proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages
- Experience with cloud-based services, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and deployment
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization using Docker
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
