About the Role

What You Will Do

  • Build and own backend product capabilities for Stytch's identity platform on Twilio, shipping new API surfaces and core authentication flows.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to set direction, translate customer needs into product capabilities, and deliver high-impact roadmap features.
  • Collaborate across Twilio and Stytch teams to align on architecture, integrate platform capabilities, and unblock cross-team initiatives.
  • Operate with deep technical ownership, authoring design docs, driving key technical decisions, reviewing code, and staying close to the systems you ship.
  • Build in ambiguity, breaking down complex problems, making pragmatic tradeoffs, and designing developer experiences that delight customers.
  • Improve production quality and resilience through strong observability, incident response, and remediation.
  • Mentor and support other engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge-sharing, helping raise the team's technical bar and culture.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in Stytch's products.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in designing, building, and operating high-scale, mission-critical cloud-based production systems.
  • Familiarity with a production-grade code base in a modern programming language, applying best practice coding standards and writing high-quality code.
  • Extensive experience with backend APIs, cloud-based systems, and identity products.
  • Strong technical ownership and leadership skills, with the ability to drive key technical decisions and mentor other engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems and design elegant solutions.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A passion for delivering secure, developer-first identity experiences and a commitment to innovation and improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA or PCI-DSS.
