About the Role
The Software Engineer, Platform role at Speechify is a key position that involves designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs to support the company's text-to-speech products. As a member of the Platform team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with the overall product strategy and user experience. What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and maintain public and internal APIs, including payment, subscription, and consumption tracking
- Oversee the full backend API landscape to enhance performance and maintainability
- Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
- Work closely with the frontend team to align backend architecture with the overall product strategy and user experience
- Develop and maintain text-to-speech APIs for various platforms, including iOS, Android, and web applications
- Ensure scalability and reliability of backend services to support growing user demand
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality
- Collaborate with the AI research team to integrate machine learning models into the backend services
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that impact the performance and availability of backend services
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in backend development with TypeScript and Node.js
- Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other cloud providers
- Efficiency in ideation and implementation, with the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments is preferred
- Proficiency in deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes is preferred
- Strong understanding of database design and data modeling
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI technologies
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience with implementing secure backend services
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
