About the Role
The Software Engineer, Platform role at Speechify is a key position that involves designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs to meet business and scalability requirements. This is a critical role that requires strategic thinking, a passion for making product decisions, and experience in building great user experiences. As part of the Platform team, you will be working on building and maintaining all backend services, including payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text-to-speech, and external APIs.Speechify is a 100% distributed company with a team of nearly 200 people around the globe, including frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and other professionals from top companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. As a Software Engineer, Platform, you will be working closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience. You will have the autonomy to make decisions, prioritize tasks, and deliver results consistently and quickly.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs, including public TTS API, internal APIs like Payment, Subscription, Auth, and Consumption Tracking
- Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience
- Design and implement new features and services to meet business requirements
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure smooth deployment and operation of backend services
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve the backend services
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in backend development with TS/Node
- Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
- Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, principles, and best practices
- Experience with containerization using Docker
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and experience with deploying high-availability applications
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based APIs and microservices architecture
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
- Certification in cloud computing or software development
