About the Role
The Software Engineer - Video role at Twilio is a unique opportunity to join a team of innovators shaping the future of communications. As a key member of the Voice Connectivity Trust team, you will participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to on-call support. The team's mission is to ensure Twilio's Voice customers have reliable voice communication with their customers, and your contributions will directly impact the quality of service.Day-to-day, you will work closely with stakeholders to understand customer needs and devise simple, robust, and scalable solutions. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and other engineers, to deliver value to customers. What You Will Do
- Design and implement real-time services with high throughput and low latency requirements
- Verify, deploy, and operationalize services in a distributed production environment
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand customer needs and devise solutions
- Express thoughts and ideas as detailed prose to collaborate with leads, architects, and cross-functional teams
- Embrace the challenge of scaling a complex distributed platform with points of presence globally
- Figure out novel ways of solving customer problems for the Voice channel
- Participate in sprint planning, coding, testing, and deployments
- Own, operate, and maintain team services, employing Agile methodologies to continuously deliver value
- Collaborate with the team to improve processes and procedures
What We Are Looking For
- Experience with software development life cycles, including requirements gathering, technical design, and testing
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to express thoughts and ideas as detailed prose
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and distributed systems
- Familiarity with Excel and other productivity tools
