About the Role

The role requires close collaboration with program teams to integrate products seamlessly, ensuring that software solutions meet program-specific needs and performance standards. You will be expected to shape and manage the relationship between program teams and business partners, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

The team you will be leading owns and manages the roadmaps and development for Linux software product lines, which are used across multiple programs and business units. Your expertise in managing complex software projects, combined with your ability to mentor and develop engineering talent, will be essential in driving the team's success.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage a team of embedded software engineers performing engineering and technical activities for safety-critical and non-safety critical Linux developments
• Proactively assess and manage software staffing needs, creating a healthy talent and skill pipeline to meet project resource timelines
• Drive technical planning and execution, including analyzing and responding to team agile metrics
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including other software engineering teams, systems engineering, hardware engineering, quality assurance, coworkers, customers, and suppliers
• Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure and professionalism in stressful situations
• Provide guidance and direction to team members to ensure adherence to Software Engineering Design Practices, Independent Verification & Validation, and other engineering excellence initiatives
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and professional growth within the team
• Integrate modern development methodologies and DevSecOps principles to ensure robust software development practices
• Engage with stakeholders, suppliers, including customers and regulatory bodies, to communicate project status, address concerns, mitigate risk, and ensure alignment with program objectives

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
• Strong technical background in software engineering, with experience in managing complex software projects
• Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
• Proven track record in managing software staffing needs and creating a healthy talent pipeline
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, systems engineering, and quality assurance
• Strong understanding of Software Engineering Design Practices, Independent Verification & Validation, and other engineering excellence initiatives
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure and professionalism in stressful situations
• Strong sense of cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Experience with Linux software development and DevSecOps principles

• Experience in managing remote teams and collaborating with global stakeholders
• Knowledge of Boeing's Common Operating System and software development methodologies
• Familiarity with agile development practices and team agile metrics
• Experience in integrating modern development methodologies and DevSecOps principles
