About the Role

The Commercial Solutions Architect role at Gitlab is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of the company's DevSecOps platform and its applications in the industry. As a trusted advisor to mid-market prospects and customers in North America, the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding organizations through their digital transformation journeys. This involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including Account Executives and Product Management, to drive successful platform adoption and influence revenue growth.

The role is centered around technical evaluations, solution design, and workshops, with the goal of showcasing Gitlab's differentiated position in the AI-driven DevSecOps landscape. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent customer empathy, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Lead technical discovery, demos, and validation to show how Gitlab's AI-powered DevSecOps platform meets customers' technical and business needs
  • Drive the technical evaluation process, including solution design, POC/POV ownership, workshop design, and the technical components of tenders, audits, and value stream assessments
  • Collaborate with Commercial Account Executives and regional sales teams in North America to shape and execute account strategies that support new customer acquisition and expansion
  • Build and deepen relationships with technical practitioners and business leaders, guiding them through Gitlab-driven digital transformation and enabling them to become Gitlab advocates
  • Advise customers on modern software development, continuous integration, continuous deployment, security, and cloud practices, challenging existing approaches to improve return on investment
  • Serve as the voice of the customer with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing by sharing feedback, use cases, and competitive insights that inform roadmap and positioning
  • Own technical evaluations, including proof of value initiatives and workshops, to drive successful platform adoption and influence revenue growth
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Gitlab's DevSecOps platform and its applications in the industry
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and growth

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably in a solutions architecture or similar position
  • Strong technical background in software development, with experience in cloud and modern software development practices
  • Excellent customer empathy and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product management
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps and its applications in the industry
  • Experience with AI-powered DevSecOps platforms, preferably Gitlab
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on innovation and growth
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop creative solutions

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience with security and compliance frameworks, such as HIPAA or PCI-DSS
