About the Role

The Solutions Engineer role at Cisco is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of technical systems and the ability to communicate complex ideas to customers and internal teams. As a Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for driving technical sales, managing complex solutions, and building strong relationships with customers. You will be part of a close-knit team of technically skilled, solutions-focused individuals who are passionate about delivering innovative, effective outcomes.

The role is based in the United States, with the possibility of working remotely from various locations, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Dallas, TX, and Kansas. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that have a real-world impact.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Cisco's products and solutions, with a focus on Splunk
  • Drive technical sales, managing complex solutions and winning customer trust
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and delivering innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and product development
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, demos, and proofs-of concept
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to stay ahead of the competition
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop and execute account plans
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers, both pre- and post-sales
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote Cisco's solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering or similar deep technical role
  • Strong technical knowledge of Splunk, with experience in security, observability, event, or network management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
  • Experience working with customers, including building and maintaining relationships and delivering customer-facing presentations
  • Strong understanding of automation, APIs, and programmability within the domain of expertise
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as CISSP
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Experience with completing RFXs, competitive analysis, positioning, and first-hand competitive bake-offs
  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and partners
  • Experience in a thought leadership role, including public speaking, writing technical blogs or whitepapers
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies and solutions
  • Experience working with agile development methodologies
