Job Description

About the Role

As a Solutions Engineer at Tailscale, you will be the pioneering technical voice for the company in the APAC region. Your primary responsibility will be to partner with the Sales team to drive business expansion and deliver technical solutions to customers. You will be working closely with the VP of Customer Engineering and will be expected to co-own a regional book of business with Account Executives. The role is based in Singapore, and you will be responsible for cultivating market presence, initiating customer engagement frameworks, and defining regional technical execution strategies. You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and your ability to navigate ambiguity and operate in an early-stage, high-growth startup culture will be crucial to your success.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the technical voice for Tailscale in APAC, driving market presence and customer engagement
  • Partner with Account Executives to identify, qualify, design, and close new commercial opportunities
  • Lead discovery workshops, deliver product demonstrations, and manage technical proof-of-concepts
  • Engage in direct R&D activities, such as writing code and developing custom tool integrations
  • Document and synthesize critical field insights, architectural trends, and regional product requirements
  • Build reusable demo environments, solution blueprints, and technical whitepapers
  • Collaborate with adjacent customer-facing technical teams to ensure tight feedback loops and consistent service delivery
  • Establish and anchor Tailscale's company culture in the region
  • Co-own a regional book of business with Account Executives, driving complex multi-stakeholder deals
  • Uncover core organizational pain points and engineer robust solution architectures

What We Are Looking For

  • 4-5+ years of experience in a customer-facing Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect capacity
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls
  • Comprehensive understanding of zero-trust networking, secure connectivity, and IAM integrations
  • Hands-on experience designing, provisioning, or troubleshooting infrastructure within major cloud environments
  • Technical storytelling capacity, with the ability to link technical architectural decisions to strategic customer outcomes
  • Outgoing communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of syncing seamlessly with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in an early-stage, high-growth startup culture, with a strong ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Proven success in driving complex sales engagements and delivering technical solutions to customers

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with container environments, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud security and compliance frameworks
