## About the Role The Sommelier role at Jumby Bay Island is a key position responsible for elevating the overall wine service and standards at the resort. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for selecting, purchasing, and serving wines to guests, ensuring that the highest level of quality and service is maintained. You will work closely with the service team to provide training and support, enabling them to confidently converse with guests about wine and make expert recommendations. The role requires a deep understanding of wines, vineyards, and wine regions, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills. You will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision, taking proactive steps to ensure that the wine service is always exceptional. ## What You Will Do - Select, purchase, and manage the resort's wine inventory, ensuring that the highest quality wines are available to guests - Develop and maintain relationships with wine suppliers and vendors, negotiating prices and terms to ensure the best value for the resort - Provide training and support to service staff, enabling them to confidently converse with guests about wine and make expert recommendations - Create and implement wine lists, menus, and promotional materials to enhance the guest experience - Collaborate with the culinary team to develop wine pairings and menus that showcase the resort's culinary expertise - Manage wine sales and service, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service and that sales targets are met - Monitor and control wine inventory levels, minimizing waste and ensuring that the resort is always fully stocked - Develop and implement wine-related events and promotions to drive sales and enhance the guest experience - Work closely with the resort's management team to develop and implement strategic plans for the wine program - Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, ensuring that the resort's wine program remains innovative and competitive

## What We Are Looking For - Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury resort or hotel setting - Intermediate to advanced knowledge of wines, vineyards, and wine regions - WSET Level 2 certification or other wine-related qualification (e.g. Court of Master Sommeliers) - Strong experience with inventory management systems and wine sales software (e.g. Opera, Micros, SevenRooms) - Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills - Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision - Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask - Valid Antigua & Barbuda Driver's License - Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

## Nice to Have - Experience with wine and spirits sales and marketing - Knowledge of local wine laws and regulations - Certification in wine and spirits (e.g. WSET Level 3, CMS) - Experience with event planning and execution - Basic knowledge of accounting and financial management principles
