About the Role
The Speech Language Pathologist position at National Heritage Online Academy – North Carolina is a unique opportunity to work with students who require specially designed instruction due to their disabilities. As a key member of the special education team, you will collaborate closely with the special education teacher to ensure that each child receives the support they need to thrive. This role is part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week, and is based remotely, allowing for greater flexibility and work-life balance.Day-to-day, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple responsibilities such as scheduling, testing, and annual meetings. Your ability to organize and prioritize tasks will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the special education program. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, which is critical for tracking student progress and making data-driven decisions.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with the special education teacher to develop daily schedules, testing schedules, and annual meetings
- Supply the special education teacher with current speech/language student lists to maintain a master Special Education list
- Provide specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of each child resulting from their disability
- Participate in resource room, inclusion, and/or pullout services as needed
- Work closely with the special education team to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conduct speech and language assessments to identify areas of strength and weakness
- Develop and implement intervention plans to address speech and language deficits
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in speech language pathology
