## About the Role The Sr. Casualty Claims Examiner Construction role at Howden is a critical position that requires a unique blend of analytical, communication, and project management skills. As a key member of the construction defect claims team, you will be responsible for managing moderate to high exposure claims with accuracy and efficiency. Your day-to-day tasks will involve investigating claims, analyzing policy coverages, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure claim resolution. You will be working closely with the Claims Manager and other team members to ensure that claims are handled in a timely and professional manner.

As a Sr. Casualty Claims Examiner, you will be an integral part of this team and will be expected to contribute to the development of best practices and procedures for claims handling. The role is based in the United States and offers a remote work arrangement, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home. With a travel requirement of 0-10%, you will have the opportunity to attend mediations, settlements, and trials as needed.

## What You Will Do - Investigate claims and analyze policy coverages to determine the extent of liability - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure claim resolution - Conduct liability investigations and draft coverage position letters as needed - Comply with DOI regulations and ensure that all claims are handled in accordance with regulatory requirements - Retain and coordinate with defense counsel and experts to develop and execute agreed-upon litigation strategies - Manage plans and budgets to ensure effective case resolution - Coordinate the retention of experts and manage budgets - Establish timely indemnity and expense reserves based on an exposure analysis - Draft comprehensive reports to request reserve and settlement authority - Travel up to 10% to attend mediations, settlements, and trials as needed - Keep current on key changes in case law and industry trends

## What We Are Looking For - Bachelor's degree preferred - Professional designations (CPCU, SCLA, AIC, JD) are a plus - 7+ years of construction defect claims experience - Must be licensed or have the ability to become licensed in all required states - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) - Advanced knowledge of end-to-end claims handling, including litigation - Knowledge of industry trends and legal developments affecting claims handling - Ability to manage multiple claims and competing priorities - Ability to adapt to evolving regulatory and legal environments - Complete assigned tasks correctly, on time, and be able to learn quickly - Self-motivated and demonstrating attention to detail
