About the Role

The Sr Data Engineer at Air Methods plays a critical role in shaping the company's data-driven decision culture. As a seasoned data engineering professional, you will design, develop, and deliver data engineering and analytical solutions that are customer-focused, easy to consume, and drive business impact. Your expertise will be instrumental in growing the company's data capabilities, ensuring that data is secure, timely, and scalable.

Day-to-day, you will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver value through the entire data pipeline. This includes designing and implementing complex data models, building data pipelines, reports, and dashboards, and owning data presentation and dashboarding tools for end-users. Your passion for mentoring other data engineers will be essential in driving the adoption of data-driven decision making across the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Design and implement complex data models, metadata, and data pipelines to transform raw data into powerful business insights
  • Develop and improve the current data architecture, emphasizing data security, quality, timeliness, scalability, and extensibility
  • Deploy and utilize various data and big data technologies to design low-latency data architectures at scale
  • Implement self-service data query and analysis capabilities of the data platform
  • Establish and maintain standards and guidelines for design, development, tuning, deployment, and maintenance of information and advanced data analytics
  • Meet with subject matter experts to understand their business needs and develop data solutions to support their processes
  • Actively mentor and lead knowledge-sharing sessions, code, and design reviews
  • Build conceptual and logical data models for stakeholders and management
  • Support the data platform infrastructure and implement solutions for continuous improvement in platform stability
  • Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, product owners, software development engineers, and other teams to develop and validate KPIs, statistical analyses, and machine learning algorithms

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Computer Science or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience working in a cloud computing environment, with Azure preferred
  • Extensive experience in building scalable data platforms, with Snowflake preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Azure technologies
  • Experience gathering data from multiple heterogeneous data sources, including databases, file formats, and REST and SOAP APIs
  • Strong skills in SQL and data modeling
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and data science tools
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience working with remote teams and collaborating across multiple time zones
