About the Role
The Senior Engineer - Gas Power Generation role at Blattner is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, collaboration, and innovation. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and execution of large-scale gas power generation and energy infrastructure projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, reviewing designs and technical studies, and solving complex engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.The energy sector is rapidly evolving, and companies like Blattner are driving this change. As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to provide technical expertise across electrical, mechanical, controls, and utility infrastructure systems. Your ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and develop innovative solutions for complex energy infrastructure projects will be essential to your success in this role.
What You Will Do
- Support the design, development, and execution of large-scale gas power generation and energy infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative solutions for complex energy infrastructure projects
- Review engineering designs, specifications, studies, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
- Provide technical expertise across electrical, mechanical, controls, and utility infrastructure systems
- Direct a team that generates design drawings and documents for the Estimators and Supply Chain to bid
- Ensure takeoffs are complete and accurate
- Coordinate with other Senior Engineers to establish plans for resources and design schedules on project designs
- Perform drawing reviews of 3rd party engineering firms design packages to ensure designs meet industry and Blattner’s standards and best practices
- Ensure that designs support safe work practices and comply with all applicable safety standards
- Support equipment and system integration
- Solve complex engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited college
- Five or more years of progressive engineering and/or construction/field experience in a related industry (i.e., heavy civil, industrial, utilities, power generation)
- Strong electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering background within industrial or power generation environments
- Experience with gas turbines, balance of plant systems, substations, switchyards, or transmission infrastructure
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and develop innovative solutions for complex energy infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Utility-scale gas generation or combined cycle power plant experience
- Experience with renewable energy solutions
- Strong leadership skills and ability to direct a team
- Experience with design software and tools
- Certification in a related field (e.g., PE license)
