About the Role
The Sr. Engineer role at Crowdstrike is a critical position that involves working on the Sensor Security Platform (SSP) team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the foundational detection and response functions of the Falcon sensor. As a Sr. Engineer, you will be working on large-scale distributed systems, processing nearly 3 trillion events per day. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and implementing performant, functionally-correct, and well-structured logic.The SSP team's mission is to focus on sensor-oriented technology, directly supporting the company-wide mission of stopping breaches. You will be working on a range of domains and technologies, including Sensor Classifications, Sensor Detection Pipelines and Templates, Sensor Security Posture and Response, Endpoint User Security, and Sensor Antitampering. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for understanding, modifying, and assuming shared ownership of complex and critical sensor detections and response capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system programming, experience working with large existing codebases, and the ability to reason about complex, highly-concurrent systems. You will be communicating design, constraints, guarantees, and other aspects of the system to various teams at Crowdstrike, including engineering teams, adversary response teams, malware researchers, product and program managers, and others.
What You Will Do
- Understand, modify, and assume shared ownership of complex and critical sensor detections and response capabilities
- Gain expertise in the core logic of the Falcon sensor, becoming a resource for other developers within Crowdstrike
- Communicate design, constraints, guarantees, and other aspects of the system to various teams
- Write code in a variety of languages, including internally developed, non-imperative domain-specific languages
- Write unit, functional, and integration tests
- Diagnose and resolve issues discovered by customers or other engineering teams
- Collaborate with other teams at Crowdstrike, including engineering teams who use our tools, adversary response teams, malware researchers, product and program managers, and others
- Take responsibility for and ownership of your work
- Design and implement performant, functionally-correct, and well-structured logic
- Can understand, maintain, and improve a large existing codebase
- Can reason about, describe, and communicate the nature of complex, highly-concurrent systems
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in system programming, preferably in a cybersecurity or related field
- Strong background in programming languages, including C, C++, and Python
- Experience working with large existing codebases and complex systems
- Ability to reason about complex, highly-concurrent systems and communicate technical information effectively
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and cybersecurity principles
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and distributed systems
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- Experience working with sensor technologies and endpoint security
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence principles
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Azure
- Certification in cybersecurity or related field, such as CISSP or CEH
