About the Role

The Senior Global Supply Manager I position at Samsara represents a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to join a team that is redefining the future of physical operations. As a key member of the Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for driving collaboration and innovation in supply chain management, ensuring seamless project execution and supply continuity. Your expertise in electromechanical component sourcing will be crucial in supporting the development of Samsara's pioneering products, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, and Equipment Monitoring.

The role requires a curious and analytical mindset, with the ability to partner with internal teams and external vendors to drive coordination and negotiation. What You Will Do

  • Lead sourcing of electromechanical components, such as cables, connectors, batteries, and other components
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams on sourcing strategy, market analysis, and conducting trade-off analysis reviews and supplier roadmaps with engineers
  • Evaluate, assess, develop, and manage the supply base to enable quick prototype deployment from new product development to scalable production with Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) partners
  • Provide insights on industry best-in-class technology and manufacturing options with optimized supply chain setup for total cost ownership
  • Negotiate contracts and source alternative suppliers as needed to mitigate risk
  • Analyze supplier spend, capacity, and develop overall supplier negotiation and engagement strategies
  • Champion sourcing activities and support value engineering projects to improve part quality and reduce cost
  • Negotiate and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers
  • Conduct market research and maintain a working knowledge of current business trends, including industry challenges and opportunities

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in global supply chain management, preferably in the technology or manufacturing sector
  • Proven track record of driving collaboration and innovation in supply chain management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to partner with internal teams and external vendors
  • Experience in electromechanical component sourcing, including cables, connectors, batteries, and other components
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, including total cost ownership, risk management, and supplier development
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

  • Experience working with JDM partners and supporting new product development
  • Knowledge of industry best-in-class technology and manufacturing options
  • Experience with cost modeling, process improvements, and design-for-cost changes
  • Certification in supply chain management, such as APICS or ISM
