About the Role
The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in supporting Chameleon Integrated Services' European operations, providing expert-level network support and management. This remote position requires a high degree of technical expertise, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills. As a key member of the network team, the successful candidate will be responsible for resolving complex network issues, designing and implementing network architectures, and ensuring the highest levels of network security and reliability.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with a focus on LAN/WLAN/WAN management, cybersecurity, and network protocols. They will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and will be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also essential, as the Senior Network Engineer will be working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless network operations.
What You Will Do
- Resolve complex LAN/WLAN/WAN issues, including network outages and performance degradation
- Design, implement, and manage network architectures, including network segmentation and VLANs
- Develop and implement network security policies and procedures, including firewall configuration and VPN management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless network operations, including IT, cybersecurity, and engineering
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior network engineers and other team members
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams and configuration guides
- Participate in network planning and budgeting, including identifying areas for improvement and recommending cost-effective solutions
- Stay up-to-date with emerging network technologies and trends, including SDN, NFV, and cloud networking
- Develop and implement network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including SolarWinds and Wireshark
- Manage and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of directly related experience
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus 3 years of directly related experience
- Active Secret clearance and DoD 8570.01 / 8570.01-M compliance at IAM Level III or equivalent
- Mastery-level experience with networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS-449, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, and 802-series communications standards
- Hands-on experience with network administration tools, including SolarWinds, ARMIS, Ansible, MIB, MRTG-type monitoring, OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards
- Ability to establish and configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs
- Strong understanding of network security principles, including threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud networking, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with DevOps tools, including Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of programming languages, including Python, Java, or C++
- Experience with IT service management frameworks, including ITIL or COBIT
- Certification in network engineering, including CCNP or CISSP
