The Senior Real World Data Programmer position at Syneos Health is a unique opportunity for a skilled data science professional to work on complex data sets and develop programs to support real-world data analyses. Day-to-day, the Senior Real World Data Programmer will be responsible for developing programs and providing statistical programming support for epidemiologists or for client or business use. This will involve working with large datasets, creating statistical tables, listings, and graphs, and interpreting complex data sets utilizing codes and programs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with commercial databases such as Optum, HealthVerity, or PharmMetrics, as well as a strong understanding of study protocols and data review processes.

What You Will Do

  • Develop programs to support real-world data analyses, utilizing programming languages such as SAS, R, and SQL
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists to design and implement studies, and to interpret results
  • Work with large datasets, creating statistical tables, listings, and graphs
  • Develop codes that create analysis datasets, tables, and figures
  • Evaluate programming processes and suggest revisions geared toward increasing productivity
  • Support protocol and SAP review in support of the epidemiologist
  • Review data and program outputs against protocol requirements, flagging issues
  • Prepare data specs and develop a strong understanding of study protocols
  • Derive cohorts and define index dates
  • Model and program using GLM, logistic, Cox, and propensity score matching

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience working with commercial databases such as Optum, HealthVerity, or PharmMetrics
  • Strong understanding of study protocols and data review processes
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, R, and SQL
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong understanding of ICD knowledge and experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with large datasets and complex data sets
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, statistics, or mathematics

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with MarketScan, VA data, Medicaid, or Medicare
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment, such as AWS or Azure
