About the Role
The Sr Staff Mixed Methods User Researcher role at Mozilla is a critical position that champions human-centered exploration of complex problems. As a Sr Staff Mixed Methods User Researcher, you will lead complex, ambiguous, and high-stakes research studies, setting the standard for research excellence and directly shaping product vision at the organizational level. You will drive user-centered decision-making at the executive level, influencing directors and VPs, and ensuring user needs are embedded in the long-term product and business strategy.

What You Will Do
- Lead complex, high-stakes research studies, using mixed methods to understand user experiences and behaviors
- Drive user-centered decision-making at the executive level, influencing product vision and strategy
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including product, design, engineering, and data science, to identify research opportunities and align insights with business priorities
- Integrate diverse data sources, including qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral data, and market intelligence, to build cohesive, evidence-based perspectives on user experience
- Leverage AI tools thoughtfully across the research workflow, applying critical review to ensure accurate outputs
- Define standards for responsible AI use in research, establishing frameworks that position Mozilla as a leader in ethical AI-assisted research practice
- Elevate the research practice by setting the methodological bar, identifying capability gaps, and mentoring staff researchers and below
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement research strategies, methodologies, and tools
- Communicate research findings and insights effectively to stakeholders, including product teams, executives, and external partners
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve research methods and outcomes
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in user research, with a focus on mixed methods and a proven track record of driving decision-making at the executive level
- Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey design, interviews, usability testing, and statistical analysis
- Experience with AI tools and technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to integrate diverse data sources and build cohesive, evidence-based perspectives
- Experience with research tools and software, including Excel, SPSS, and qualitative data analysis tools
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and human-computer interaction
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with programming languages, such as Python or R
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques, including Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
- Certification in user experience or human-computer interaction, such as UXPA or HCII
