About the Role

The Staff Accountant position at Coinbase is a critical role that involves managing the day-to-day accounting operations for Coinbase Financial Services Europe Ltd (CBFSE), a MiFID-regulated entity. As a key member of the Cyprus Finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all financial records are accurate and compliant with relevant regulations. This includes preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, and executing daily reconciliation reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF), Big Four firm, or financial services/fintech company. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Source-to-Pay, and engineering teams, to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial reporting.

What You Will Do

  • Own daily operational accounting for CBFSE, including recording journal entries and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Execute daily reconciliation reporting and other periodic regulatory submissions required by CySEC and the Central Bank of Cyprus.
  • Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Source-to-Pay, and engineering teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, analysis, and timely responses.
  • Drive data analysis against business drivers to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including those related to CySEC and CIF frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Coinbase's financial systems, including NetSuite, FloQast, and G-Suite.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance within a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF), Big Four firm, or financial services/fintech company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, with professional qualifications (ACCA, ACA, or CPA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of IFRS, with hands-on experience applying IFRS standards to operational accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite, FloQast, and G-Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with CySEC and CIF regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidance to accounting processes.
  • Utilization of generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Nice to Have

  • CySEC certifications (Advanced and/or AML Certificate).
  • Experience with financial analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
  • Previous experience working in a remote-first company.
