About the Role
As a Staff Accountant at Sunrun, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the company's solar energy business. Your expertise in accounting, compliance, and financial analysis will be instrumental in driving business growth and ensuring the company's financial health. You will be working closely with the accounting team, external tax professionals, and executive management to achieve strategic finance objectives.The successful candidate will be responsible for onboarding and embedding with Sunrun's accounting team to understand the current setup and needs of Snapnrack's accounting department. You will lead the establishment of a separate accounting department for Snapnrack, with assistance from Sunrun's accounting team, and play a key role in transitioning Snapnrack's accounting into the Acumatica ERP system.
What You Will Do
- Onboard and embed with Sunrun's accounting team to understand Snapnrack's accounting needs and current setup in Oracle
- Lead the establishment of a separate accounting department for Snapnrack, with assistance from Sunrun's accounting team
- Transition Snapnrack's accounting into the Acumatica ERP system, including determining and communicating business requirements and performing user testing
- Manage all areas of accounting in the Acumatica ERP system, including inventory/cost accounting, revenue/COGS/margin, OpEx/departmental accounting, payroll processing, and journal entry posting
- Perform bank reconciliations, cash management, and treasury functions
- Manage fixed assets, prepaids, and other general ledger accounting
- Coordinate with external tax professionals for income tax, sales and use tax, and other registrations and filings
- Lead treasury functions, including banking relationships and cash needs/transfers to and from the parent company
- Manage SOX controls for Snapnrack
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to junior accountants
- Assist in departmental, resource, and project planning
What We Are Looking For
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least 2 years of experience as an accountant or financial analyst
- Experience applying U.S. GAAP principles, performing inventory and cost accounting, internal controls, and compliance support
- Knowledge of ERP systems, such as Oracle, SAP, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with Google Workspace
- Experience with tax and compliance coordination with external advisors
- Strong understanding of treasury and cash management principles
- Ability to perform UAT in coordination with IT
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with Acumatica ERP system
- Certification in accounting, such as CPA
- Experience working in the renewable energy sector
- Knowledge of sales and use tax laws and regulations
