About the Role
The Staff Android Engineer role at Reddit is a unique opportunity to work on one of the most popular and engaging platforms on the internet. As a member of the Home Experience team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Home feed on the Reddit apps and website. This role is critical to Reddit's success, as the Home feed is both a destination and entry point for almost all Reddit journeys. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and engineering counterparts, to design and build novel products and features that drive user engagement and retention.The Home Experience team is responsible for ensuring a smooth, intuitive, and delightful experience for Reddit's hundreds of millions of users. As a technical lead, you will be working with a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers across the organization to drive step-function improvements in developer workflows and implement best practices.
What You Will Do
- Be the technical lead for a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers across the organization
- Work cross-functionally, collaborate and partner with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to design and build novel products and features
- Participate in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
- Write and review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks, and ensure successful delivery of key projects
- Drive step-function improvements in developer workflows, implement best practices, and mentor engineers across the organization
- Enable a culture of metrics-led execution, with a focus on operational excellence and system observability
- Partner cross-functionally and with senior leadership on our strategic roadmap, driving engineering and product bets that will bring Home to the next level
- Plan, develop, and implement across Reddit's Android architecture in conjunction with numerous partner teams
- Identify and deliver on major opportunities
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications
- Fluency working with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments with exposure to tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase, etc.
- Software development experience in Kotlin for Android, familiarity with GraphQL
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity
- Experience working with ML engineering teams and integrating ML solutions is a plus
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule for the team
- BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong focus on user experience and usability

- Experience with data-driven decision-making and experimentation
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and infrastructure
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
