Job Description

About the Role

Wikimedia is seeking a Staff Database Administrator to support and protect the technology behind Wikipedia and its sister projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health and performance of Wikimedia’s production relational database systems
  • Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot relational database systems in production, development and staging environments
  • Design, implement, manage and automate replication topologies
  • Monitor, debug and optimize database query performance
  • Improve observability of database infrastructure

Requirements

Strong expertise in designing, operating and optimizing relational database infrastructure at large scale, particularly with MariaDB and other MySQL derivatives.

  • Be prepared to discuss your experience with MariaDB and MySQL derivatives, and how you've optimized database performance in previous roles.
  • Showcase your ability to design and implement replication topologies, as well as automate common database management workflows.
