About the Role

The Staff DevOps Engineer role at Crunchyroll is a pivotal position within the Infrastructure Engineering team, focusing on automating and scaling the systems and services that power the company's streaming platform. As a key member of the Cloud Reliability team, you will work closely with development teams to ensure that everything about the infrastructure is automated, and services are highly reliable and scalable. Daily responsibilities will include leading projects related to infrastructure automation, scaling, and CI/CD, as well as collaborating with other engineers to develop tools and systems that support services and facilitate high-quality software delivery. Your expertise in DevOps and cloud infrastructure will be crucial in enabling the development teams to become empowered and effective at delivering on the company's infrastructure goals.

What You Will Do

  • Lead projects focused on infrastructure automation, scaling, and CI/CD, driving them forward to completion.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enable them to become self-service and effective at delivering on infrastructure.
  • Develop tools and systems that support services and facilitate high-quality software delivery.
  • Ensure that platform processes, automation, and best practices are being followed.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices within the Cloud Reliability team.
  • Work with other engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new infrastructure and services.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure and services.
  • Engage directly with development teams to help them become empowered and effective at delivering on infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or similar engineering role, preferably in a cloud-based environment.
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, and scalability.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and agile development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience with implementing security measures in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Certification in DevOps or a related field.
