About the Role

The Staff Engineer, Security Engineering Partners role at Twilio is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, collaboration, and leadership. As a member of the security team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable security solutions, driving technical leadership, and fostering cooperative partnerships with engineering teams. What You Will Do

  • Design and ship scalable security solutions that meet the needs of Twilio's growing customer base
  • Build strong relationships with engineering teams to foster cooperative partnerships and drive security integration
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to integrate scalable security capabilities into Twilio's products and platforms
  • Use metrics and data to drive accountability and action, ensuring that security is a top priority across the organization
  • Drive security risk reduction through technical leadership and influence of engineering roadmaps
  • Lead security reviews for critical features, new initiatives, and infrastructure changes
  • Cultivate security expertise across engineering teams through mentorship, technical guidance, and training
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats and trends, translating them into actionable engineering requirements and technical roadmaps
  • Collaborate with the security team to develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in security engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable security solutions
  • Deep technical expertise in specialized security domains, such as application security, cloud security, or product security
  • Experience with threat modeling methodologies and leading security design reviews
  • Experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) in security solutions
  • Ability to translate emerging security threats and trends into actionable engineering requirements and technical roadmaps
  • Strong background in software development, with specialized expertise in security engineering
  • Proficiency in Python, with additional programming languages like Go and Java being a plus
  • Experience driving software delivery utilizing robust CI/CD processes
  • Experience leveraging best-in-class development productivity practices, including AI tooling

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote-first environment, with a strong understanding of the challenges and benefits of remote work
  • Familiarity with Twilio's products and services, or similar cloud-based communication platforms
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards, such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
  • Certification in security, such as CISSP or CEH
